Dr Ravi Oodit was instrumental in assisting the Medi-Clinic group in launching their first fully-fledged laparoscopic theatre in the country at Constantiaberg Hospital. This has allowed us to expand the current service to include advanced laparoscopic surgery including laparoscopic splenectomy, retroperitoneal nodal biopsies, colo-rectal surgery and laparoscopic assisted oesophagectomy. He has also played a key-role in setting up the dedicated gastro-intestinal ward at Constantiaberg Hospital, which has also been a first for the group.
Dr Ravi Oodit has also been a representative in the Western Cape Branch of the South African Medical Council and served as a director on the boards of Surgicom/Association of Surgeons of South Africa and South African Society of Endoscopic Surgeons (SASES).
He is married to Dr Jennifer Moodley, who is a public health physician at the University of Cape Town and they have two children. His interests include long-distance running, golf, music and travelling.
