Henrí is a specialist Vascular Surgeon, and the newest addition to Dr Matley & Partners.
He followed in his grandfather and father’s footsteps, studying Medicine at UCT, and has continued a rich legacy and family tradition of surgical practice.
After qualifying in 2008, he embarked upon his internship in Pietermaritzburg and Community Service in East London, which provided valuable training, and inspired Henrí to pursue a surgical career. In 2012 he returned to Cape Town to spend a year in the Trauma Centre at Groote Schuur Hospital, followed by time at Victoria Hospital acquiring a broad range of surgical skills.
In 2014 he began his MMed at UCT and specialist training in General Surgery at Groote Schuur Hospital. On completion of this in 2019, being drawn to the precise, complex and rapidly advancing field of Vascular Surgery, he embarked upon sub-specialist training. He completed the sub-specialist certificate in vascular surgery in 2023.
Henrí is well known for his excellent work in multi-disciplinary teams, unwavering pursuit of the best outcome, and compassionate approach.
He grew up in Pietermaritzburg, George and Cape Town, matriculating from Rondebosch Boys High School. He is proudly South African, a keen Two Oceans runner, avid cricket fan, and attends Jubilee Community Church in Observatory. He is devoted to his wife Tricia and three young children.
